Steven K. Carter, CPA
During the late 1980s, Steve started Carter, Hayes + Associates, P.C. with Nancy Hayes, after previously practicing public accounting at the regional accounting firms of Cahill, Larkin & Company and Siskin, Shapiro & Company (both groups have since merged with Big Four firms).
In addition to providing traditional audit, accounting and tax services, Steve helps business owners and nonprofit organizations fulfill their strategic mission and grow. His unique skills in financial management strategies and internal systems have helped many enterprises grow despite significant obstacles. He works with companies small and large from the manufacturing, nonprofit, service and technology sectors.
Steve possesses comprehensive skills in business and strategic decision-making, tax and retirement planning, financial analysis, management information system design and implementation, mergers and acquisitions, and auditing. He worked several years as an alcohol rehabilitation counselor in Ohio after earning a social work degree. He later graduated summa cum laude from Quinnipiac College and received the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountant’s Award.
Mr. Carter is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants. Steve is also a member of the Management Advisory Service Division of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He is a past President and continuing volunteer of Community Accounting Aid and Services, Inc., a Connecticut not-for-profit organization that provides free accounting services to the disadvantaged. He has also instructed courses for the general public on topics such as not-for-profit financial issues and financial statement analysis.

Nancy D. Hayes, CPA
Nancy D. Hayes is a partner at Carter, Hayes + Associates, P.C.
Nancy D. Hayes has extensive experience in providing comprehensive services to not-for-profit organizations and closely held companies. Her clientele include construction, not-for-profit, manufacturing and service organizations. In addition to providing traditional audit, accounting and tax services, Ms. Hayes has assisted clients with obtaining financing, business valuations, buy and sell agreements, forecasting, budgeting, cash flow projections, business plans, obtaining construction bonds and profit analysis. She provides controllership services to both for-profit and not-for-profit organizations, overseeing their accounting departments during periods of transition. Nancy also provides litigation support services, including services related to divorce and misappropriation of assets.
A lifelong Connecticut resident, Nancy D. Hayes graduated summa cum laude from the University of Hartford with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. She started her public accounting career with Siskin, Shapiro & Company in Hartford, which later merged with Coopers & Lybrand. She then spent five years at Cahill, Larkin & Company (presently merged with the firms of Arthur Andersen & Company and McGladrey & Pullen) in Hartford and New Haven.
Ms. Hayes is an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants, presently serving on the peer review committee. In addition, Nancy is the treasurer and a member of the Advisory Board of the Town of Clinton Youth and Family Services. She has also instructed courses on bookkeeping, the preparation of business plans and starting a business.

David A. Scaramozza, CPA
David A. Scaramozza is a partner at Carter, Hayes + Associates, P.C. and is responsible for scheduling and supervision of staff as they perform audit and accounting engagements.
David A. Scaramozza graduated cum laude from Northeastern University earning a bachelor’s degree in accounting in September 1989.
Through Northeastern’s cooperative education program, Mr. Scaramozza worked four tax seasons with the firm of Bailey, Moore, Glazer, Schaefer & Proto, CPA in Woodbridge. Upon graduation, he accepted a position with Carter, Hayes + Associates, P.C. as a staff accountant.
Mr. Scaramozza has a background in audit, accounting and tax services. He has provided clients with management advisory services including interviewing and selecting financial personnel, designing and implementing accounting systems, and establishing and improving internal controls. His clientele include not-for-profit, construction, manufacturing and service organizations and low-income housing developers.
Mr. Scaramozza is an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants. Mr. Scaramozza has been a member of the Not-for-Profit Organizations Administrative Committee of the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants for the past several years.

Antoinette P. Maloy, CPA
Antoinette Maloy has provided accounting, tax and business consulting services for over fifteen years. She has worked extensively with non-profit and closely-held enterprises by providing outsourced accounting services and traditional compilations, reviews and audits. Ms. Maloy also has substantial knowledge of corporate, nonprofit and individual tax concepts. She also has helped select and install many accounting software applications.
